About Vilano Beach
Vilano Beach is the beach town at the north bridge into St. Augustine — an unincorporated St. Johns County community where the A1A strand meets a genuine village center. The town center, a designated Community Redevelopment Area built out steadily since the county created its mixed-use district in 2004, is anchored by the Publix that opened in 2012, with the Hyatt Place and Holiday Inn Express established alongside; the county completed a $1.8 million renovation of Vilano Beach Oceanfront Park in late 2024, adding a performance pavilion to the beach that the historic pier — with its Blue Bird of Happiness statue — has anchored for decades. The shoreline itself sits inside a 50-year federal coastal-management program, and roughly three miles of it were renourished in 2023. Homes here run from oceanfront and ocean-view houses along the strand to the Villages of Vilano condos, all a five-minute drive across the bridge from the historic district.
