More and more people are taking the plunge and quitting their day jobs in an effort be an entrepreneur. As well, companies are allowing more people to work from home, allowing them to take time off commuting and have more time for family and leisure. While this is definitely a great step forward, many homeowners don’t have adequate facilities for working. But, there are ways to create the perfect home office.
Make the most of your space
If you have a room that doesn’t have a practical use (extra bedroom, storage space, etc.), this would be a perfect spot to put your home office. But, if you don’t have that, there are ways around this. Think about an unused closet space where you can build a desk within. Consider your garage or shed as a cool little office space.
Buy a home with a dedicated space
If your home just truly doesn’t work for building a home office, you may want to find a new Jacksonville home. It doesn’t have to be a fifth bedroom or a den, but it could also be a second living room, a dining room or a loft space that works for you.
Give yourself some privacy
While having a beautiful, open-concept space sounds perfect, if you have family members who will be around while you are working, you may find it is too loud and distracting. Add French doors to the room if there aren’t any, or use a privacy screen.
Add some interest
Your office at home shouldn’t be as bland and boring as the cubicle you have at work. You can liven up your space in any way possible. You want to feel like the space is relaxing and allows for focus and productivity. It can even be fun! Ensure your paint colors are ones that promote focus and are something you can live with for 8+ hours each day. Put up a vision board, which could be composed of work or life goals, but that will encourage you to work harder to achieve these goals.
Add some calm
One of the benefits of working from home is that you can get rid of the chaos of a traditional office and promote the calm in your life. If you have a waterfront home, why not have your office overlook the water? If you aren’t so lucky to have a Jacksonville home with a water view, you could add salt lamps and essential oil diffusers to promote calm.
Add some comfort
Your home office doesn’t need to be cold and sterile. Add some comfortable chairs, some pillows and some other textile objects. Sitting at your desk all day doesn’t have to mean a traditional office chair – there are a lot of great options for comfortable desk arrangements.
