Need to Move Fast? Packing Hacks that Will Speed up the Moving Process

Moving to a new home is a stressful time. The to-do list is long and it can be easy to feel overwhelmed, unorganized, and exhausted. To help speed up the moving process and help you feel a little more in control, use these simple hacks.

1. Start Early

One of the best and most important things you can do when moving is to avoid procrastinating. This will only increase your stress levels and cause you to take less care of your items. Plus, when you start early, you have the time to declutter and clean as you go along, helping you save even more time and possibly make a few extra dollars by selling items you don’t need or use anymore.

2. Create an Essentials Basket

Before you begin packing your boxes, put all essential packing items in a basket or box. This includes products such as your packing tape, markers or other labeling supplies, scissors, packing paper, etc. This allows you to have everything you need readily accessible and it saves you time from searching for them over and over again.

3. Make Plastic Wrap Your Best Friend

Plastic wrap is an excellent moving companion. It can keep many items in place and make the packing and unpacking processes simple and fun. For example, rather than separate your utensils, wrap plastic wrap around your utensil shelf, holding all items in their place. Then, when you arrive at your new Jacksonville home, you can simply remove the plastic wrap and put the utensils in their new home right away. You may also consider wrapping dresser drawers and other storage systems to prevent having to pack each drawer and item individually.

4. Use Packing Supplies You Already Own

Purchasing new packing supplies can certainly break the bank. However, you can keep these costs low by using packing supplies that you already own. For example, use all of your suitcases and duffle bags as boxes for clothes, stuffed animals, etc. You can use items such as sheets, towels, t-shirts, etc., to wrap items in or to provide extra cushioning in boxes rather than use rolls of moving paper.
