Whether you have guests for the weekend or to stay for several weeks at a time, you want to create a guest bedroom where they can relax and feel comfortable during their stay. And even better, you don’t have to spend tons of time and money creating the ultimate guest bedroom. Here are a few things you can do to create the perfect space for all of your guests.
1. Choose Relaxing Colors
Your color choice can greatly affect the mood and feel of the bedroom. You want to choose colors that are calming, peaceful, and relaxing. Colors such as light blues and greens are ideal for this space. You also want to avoid colors that are too bold and overwhelming such as reds, blacks, pinks, or oranges. While you can still use these colors in your color scheme, just make sure they are accent colors — not your main focus.
2. Don’t Clutter the Space
Your guests do not need a lot of storage space such as large dressers and many shelves. These will just clutter up the space and make the room look messy and small. Rather, just include essential furniture such as a nightstand, a bed, and a chair. Plus, by keeping the room open, it gives your guests more room for their luggage and other belongings.
3. Hang a Mirror
A mirror is an excellent home décor item. This is because it helps brighten up an area and it can also make a room appear much larger and more open. And for your guests, it gives them just one more place for them to get ready in the morning or to freshen up if the bathroom is currently occupied.
4. Include the Basics
Think of all the basic items your guests might need and include them in the room. For example, maybe you want to store a basket of extra blankets or bed linens in the closet and place an alarm clock on the nightstand next to the bed. With the advancements of technology and smartphones, it may be a nice addition to include various charging cords and equipment in the room as well. And if you really want to go the extra mile, write down your Wi-Fi password and place it on the nightstand for fast and easy reference.
Creating the ultimate guest room doesn’t need to be an overwhelming task. By including the above elements into the room, all of your guests will feel comfortable and happy each time they visit.
