According to the Florida Association of Realtors, Jacksonville is one of the 20 best markets in the state of Florida in May.

Sales of existing single-family homes in Jacksonville rose 4 percent in May if compared with the figures for May last year. That’s despite a statewide decline of 24% during the same month.

The median sales price of a Jacksonville home has gone up 15% from last year to almost $209,000 while sales of Jacksonville condos went up 35% in May.

The first Berkman tower under construction in Jacksonville has only two townhomes but if you were hoping to find a townhome in the second tower then don’t bother because there isn’t any to be had.

The second tower will be a condo development compared to the first tower which was marketed as apartments.

Construction of the second tower is scheduled to begin sometime in July with final sales prices expected to be anywhere from $170,000 to $600,000 per unit.

A property developer wants to tear down the Commander apartments and the adjoining shopping center in order to make way for a 17 storey condo & 20,000 square feet retail development.

They are taking bids now for the multi-million dollar project and the aim is to get someone signed up to do the work before the end of this year.

Also included in the plans is a dredging of Fishweir Creek and up to 40 boat slips being built.

Property developer Cameron Kuhn has decided he needs more of his professional time freed up so he has entered into a partnership deal with a management company, Trammell Crow.

Crow will take over management of Kuhn Companies RiverWatch in Jacksonville as well as two other properties starting from July 1 but Kuhn will still be keeping an eye on the company - he has announced there will be a full-time liason person between Kuhn Companies and Trammell Crow.

Two of the projects that Crow will be immediately taking over will be the SunTrust project in Jacksonville and the Premiere Trade Plaza in Orlando.
