Peterbrooke need to work out the details for deal to be a success
It may be good on the nose – the smells of chocolate downtown but Peterbrooke Chocolatier and the council have to work out the details for the Haydon Burns library to be a success all round.
With the former front-runners, Atkins, now out of the picture, attention has focused on Peterbrooke’s plans for the property. However, some people have raised questions about Peterbrooke’s sales projections saying that Peterbrooke may not be able to deliver on their promises for the property.
Atkins originally won the contract with their ambitious plans for condos, retail space and entertainment facilities. However, their plans did not go down well in some quarters and eventually the company pulled out. But Peterbrooke seems to be garnering support with dreams of wafting chocolate smells downtown.
The third-place contenders, Main Branch LLC, stand ready to step in and save the day if Peterbrooke decide not to go ahead. Their plan is to build condos, office space, retail and a grocery store.
